The fundamental breakdown of The Ultimate Workout Split has not changed from Version 1 to Version 2.

V2 follows the same pattern of push, pull, legs, push, pull, legs, rest, Monday – Sunday. This is a timeless, tried, and true method. There is no need to reinvent the wheel as far as this basic structure is concerned.

The goal was to diversify and optimize the original routine while staying true to the principle of “keep it simple” emphasized in V1.

I didn’t want to discard this principle because it’s essential for developing a deep familiarity with each of the key bodybuilding and strength-building exercises in this program.

A nice simple program means more time spent with each exercise, which means a better understanding of each. With this comes a good mind-muscle connection – something that takes time to build but is invaluable when it comes to getting the most out of a given exercise.

If V2 abandoned the principle of keeping it simple, we would spread ourselves thin and fall into the common trap of trying to do so many things we get nothing done at all.

Considering this M.O., it should not be a surprise that I put careful consideration and much trial into each additional exercise in V2. Nothing was added just for the sake of diversification.
